Last year, the French Embassy stepped forward to support the PNG Tribal Foundation’s fight against Sorcery Accusation Related Violence (SARV), and I would like to publicly express my sincere gratitude for their partnership and generosity.
I met with the team from the French Embassy and shared the reality of the struggle we face every day — fighting to hold SARV perpetrators accountable while caring for hundreds of victims and survivors whose lives have been shattered by violence. After hearing about the challenges, they made the decision to stand with us and help.
Their support has made a real and measurable difference.
Through their funding, we were able to provide food assistance for survivors, educational opportunities, support for victims living at the Village of Hope, emergency medical response training for our staff, and direct assistance to many of the vulnerable individuals who rely on Tribal Foundation for survival and protection.
We recently submitted a detailed report outlining the impact of their support, and it is fair to say that without their assistance many people would have suffered more deeply and gone without critical help.
France has long been a friend to Papua New Guinea, and this is another example of that friendship in action. I would like to extend a special thank you to the French Ambassador, his team, the people of France, and the French Government for helping us make a tangible difference in the lives of Papua New Guineans.
When someone is drowning, they never forget the person who helped save them.
The PNG Tribal Foundation is a lifeline for hundreds of SARV victims across the country. Every day we fight for their safety, their health, their survival, and their justice. When organizations and nations take the time to listen to our struggle and provide meaningful support that helps save lives, we never forget it.
The Tribal Foundation is a Papua New Guinean NGO that is impacting thousands of lives, but we can only continue this work because of the generosity of partners, sponsors, and donors who choose to stand with us in this difficult fight.
Ending SARV in Papua New Guinea will not happen overnight. We still have a long way to go, but together we are making real progress.
